Totally Toronto: About Toronto : Neighbourhoods : Theatre District

Theatre District

Toronto's Theatre District holds some of the greatest theatres in Canada! Toronto has always been a hot spot for the performing arts which explains the huge number of theatres, production theatres, and performances every year. It is the third largest English-speaking theatre district, right behind the famous New York Theatre District.

History & Location

The district has a rich history; each theatre bringing a new character to Toronto. Some theatres in Toronto's Theatre District originate from the late 1800s.

And while certain theatres might not still be standing today, little pieces of history are all over Toronto, such as the little street called 'Grand Opera Lane.'

The Toronto theatre district revolves around the King St West area, just past Yonge St. It is a strip of buildings with a variety of entertainment venues, restaurants, bars, pubs, and hotels.

Many of the Toronto restaurants, bars, pubs, and hotels around the King St West area were purposely built or placed in and around the Toronto Theatre District.

Packages/Deals

The proximity of Toronto restaurants, hotels, and other venues to the Theatre District opens up a lot of opportunity for marketing the local businesses. It is incredibly popular to see package deals available for everyone.

And each restaurant, hotel, bar, or theatre might offer a different unique package for every show, so it is worth investigating before hand!

Family packages from the theatres can include a full dinner, a viewing of a live performance, and sometimes a nights stay at a hotel in the area.

Or you can get packages from the restaurants and hotels offering the same sort of deals. Regardless where you get it from, you can save a huge amount of money.
